Video 3.17: Fix Down Technique – Cadaver Study Showing the Mechanism of Hump Correction

What this video shows

Video 3.17 is different from the clinical videos in this chapter: it is a cadaver study conducted by the author to demonstrate the operating mechanism of the fix down technique. It shows how the hump is corrected when the septum rotates after the back-cut incision, and it makes clear why the localisation and shape of this incision are so important.

As the book states, the back-cut has to be designed according to the shape of the individual hump to allow anterior-caudal rotation; the cadaver dissection lets surgeons see this relationship directly, without the bleeding and soft tissue that obscure it in a live operation.
