Video 4.5: Complete Closed-Technique Tipplasty Step by Step

What this video shows

Video 4.5 shows an entire tip surgery performed through the closed approach in the exact order presented in the book: inferior intracartilaginous incision, subperichondrial dissection, ST flap or cephalic trim, lateral steal with medial overlap, intradomal and interdomal sutures, tongue-in-groove or anatomic strut graft, rim graft or articulated rim graft, perichondrio-SMASectomy and closure.

This sequence is the backbone of Prof. Dr. Suleyman Tas's tipplasty and each of its elements is explained in its own section and video later in the chapter (ST flap in Videos 4.6–4.7, anatomic strut in Video 4.9, deep SMAS suture in Video 4.12, perichondrio-SMASectomy in Video 4.13).

Key points

  • Full closed tipplasty in the book's nine-step order.

  • Shows how flaps, sutures, struts and grafts are combined in one operation.

  • Reference video for the individual technique videos of Chapter 4.

For patients: tip refinement in this practice is done through the nostrils, without a columellar scar, using the patient's own cartilage arranged as flaps rather than cut away.
