In an operation performed at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Training and Research Hospital, a breast was reconstructed for a patient whose breast was removed due to cancer, using her own tissue. Taş explained that considering the patient's young age and the early stage of her cancer, they decided to create a new breast for her. "We performed a four-hour operation simultaneously with general surgery. After removing the cancerous breast, we created a new breast from the excess fat in her abdomen using a microsurgical technique called DIEP Flap. Thus, our patient got rid of abdominal fat and emerged from the surgery with a new breast in place of the removed one in the same session," he said. Taş emphasized the importance of psychology in cancer patients, stating, "The most important factor in patients overcoming cancer is morale. Because when a patient's morale is low, the body's defense system weakens and succumbs to cancer cells. In such a situation, restoring the breasts that patients have lost becomes even more important."
