Male Facelift in Istanbul, Turkey: Facelift for Men

A male facelift (facelift for men) is a deep plane face and neck lift planned for male anatomy: thicker skin, a beard that must stay off the ear, a sideburn that must keep its height and a jawline that should look sharper, not softer. Prof. Dr. Suleyman Tas performs the male facelift in Istanbul under local anaesthesia, personally and for one patient per day. This page explains what is different in men, who is a candidate, how the operation is planned, what recovery looks like and how the fee is set.

Male facelift at a glance

  • What it is: a deep plane facelift and, in most men, a deep plane neck lift, adapted to the beard, sideburn and hairline

  • Who it suits: men with jowls, a soft jawline, fullness or loose skin under the chin, or a tired look that does not match how they feel

  • Anaesthesia: local anaesthesia; you are awake and comfortable, without general anaesthesia

  • Surgeon: one patient per day, operated on personally by Prof. Dr. Suleyman Tas

  • Hospital stay: none; you return to your hotel the same day with a private nurse

  • Stay in Istanbul: about 7 days, until the stitches are out and you are cleared to fly

  • Back to office work: usually 2 to 3 weeks

  • Price: quoted individually after your photographs have been reviewed

What is different about a facelift for men?

Thicker, heavier skin

Male facial skin is thicker and carries more hair follicles and glands. It holds a contour well but is heavier, so the lift has to be carried by the deep layer (the SMAS and the platysma muscle) rather than by skin tension. This is why a deep plane technique suits men: the deeper tissues are repositioned and the skin is laid back without pulling.

The beard line and the sideburn

If the skin is simply pulled backwards, beard-bearing skin ends up in front of and behind the ear, and the man has to shave his ear. In men the incision in front of the ear is therefore usually placed in front of the tragus, and the sideburn is kept at its own height rather than lifted. A richer blood supply

The beard-bearing skin has a richer blood supply than female facial skin. Careful bleeding control during surgery and strict blood pressure control in the first hours afterwards are planned in detail for every male patient.

Different goals

Men rarely ask for a lifted cheek. The usual wishes are a sharper jaw, a cleaner neck and a less tired look. Over-correction reads as feminised, so the aim is restoration rather than elevation, and the brow is deliberately kept low.

The neck and jawline come first

The most common male complaint is the neck: fullness under the chin, loss of the angle between chin and neck, and skin that hangs over the collar. A deep plane neck lift with repositioning of the platysma, and treatment of the deep fat under the muscle where it is needed, is what changes this. Liposuction under the chin alone rarely satisfies a man over fifty, because in most men the fullness lies below the muscle. See neck lift in Istanbul and deep plane neck lift and jawline definition.

Who is a candidate for a male facelift?

  • Jowls that blur the jawline

  • A full or loose neck, or vertical neck bands

  • Deep folds between nose and mouth

  • A tired look, often most visible on video calls

  • A previous facelift that has relaxed or looks pulled; see the revision facelift guide

Good general health matters more than age. Smokers are asked to stop before and after surgery, and blood pressure must be well controlled. Upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), facial fat transfer or a temporal lift can be added in the same session when the face needs them; in men the brow is kept low.

How the male facelift is planned and performed

  • Before you travel: Prof. Dr. Tas reviews your photographs online and agrees the plan with you, including whether the neck, eyelids or temples are treated. Tell him how you wear your beard, sideburns and hair.

  • Surgery day: the operation is performed under local anaesthesia, with you awake and without general anaesthesia. The deeper layer of the face and neck is released and repositioned, and the incisions follow the edge of the beard and run inside the hair.

  • Same day: you return to your hotel with a private nurse.

Recovery after a male facelift

Swelling peaks around the third day and settles over the following weeks. The stitches are removed at about one week, and most men return to office work at two to three weeks. Shaving can usually be resumed once the incisions have sealed and Prof. Dr. Tas confirms it, commonly around ten days; an electric razor is gentler while the skin is numb. Avoid ties, tight collars and anything that presses on the neck for the first weeks, and sport for about four weeks. See the facelift recovery timeline and facelift risks and complications.

Scars, beard and short hair

Incisions in front of the ear heal as fine lines in skin that already has texture, and placing them in front of the tragus avoids beard growth on the ear. Men who wear their hair very short or shave their head need careful planning of the incision behind the ear, which is discussed at the consultation. Read facelift scars: where the incisions go.

Male facelift cost in Turkey

The fee is quoted individually after Prof. Dr. Tas has reviewed your photographs or examined you, because the plan for a man with heavy jowls and a loose neck is different from the plan for a man who mainly needs the jawline sharpened. The quotation lists what is included. See facelift cost in Turkey for what affects the fee.

Male facelift before and after: what to check

  • Neck angle: sharper under the chin, without a tight or pulled look

  • Sideburn and beard line: the sideburn at its own height and no beard on the ear

  • Earlobe: hanging freely, not pulled down

  • Expression: eyes, mouth and smile moving as before

  • Scars: hard to see along the beard edge and inside the hair

Male facelift: frequently asked questions

Is a male facelift different from a female facelift?

The principles are the same but the plan differs: incisions around the beard line, more attention to bleeding control, and more emphasis on the neck and jaw than on the cheeks.

Will my beard grow on my ear after a facelift?

Not if the incision is designed for a man. It is usually placed in front of the tragus so that beard-bearing skin is not moved onto the ear.

When can I shave after a facelift?

Usually once the incisions have sealed and your surgeon confirms it, commonly around ten days. An electric razor is gentler while the skin is numb.

Can a man have a facelift under local anaesthesia?

Yes. Prof. Dr. Suleyman Tas performs deep plane face and neck lifts under local anaesthesia with the patient awake, without general anaesthesia or a breathing tube.

How long do I stay in Istanbul for a male facelift?

About seven days, until the stitches are removed and Prof. Dr. Tas has cleared you to fly; your exact plan is confirmed after the consultation.

How much does a male facelift cost in Turkey?

The fee is quoted individually after your photographs are reviewed, because it depends on whether the neck, eyelids, temples or fat transfer are included.
