In this article, we will talk about the benefits of HIFU treatment. What was HIFU? What was it used for? Let's briefly recall, and then we will go over its benefits.

What Is HIFU?

HIFU is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedure. HIFU gets its name from the initials of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, which is the treatment's actual name. In Turkish, it means high-intensity focused ultrasound energy. It is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses sound waves. It is one of the most requested procedures worldwide, with a very high satisfaction rate.

It sends high-intensity focused ultrasound energy targeting the epidermis, dermis, and SMAS tissue beneath the skin. It provides tightening, lifting, and rejuvenation of the skin. HIFU is a treatment method, not a surgical procedure.

What Is HIFU Used For?

Due to the effects of aging, on the face:

  • Cheek sagging,

  • Eyebrow sagging,

  • Nasolabial fold sagging,

  • Jowl formation and sagging,

Outside the face:

  • Arm sagging,

  • Sagging of the back area, known as the bra-line region,

  • Abdominal sagging,

  • Buttock sagging,

  • Hip sagging,

  • and leg sagging — HIFU was developed as a solution for all of these.

How Is HIFU Performed?

Before the HIFU procedure, a skin analysis is performed by a specialist. The areas to be treated are marked out with drawings. The depth calculation and device settings are adjusted according to the person's needs. Pulses are then applied to the marked areas using the HIFU head. It is important that the skin is clean.

Is HIFU Painful?

The sensation of pain varies from person to person, as well as from area to area. For individuals with a lower pain threshold, numbing creams applied before the procedure are used to numb the area being treated.

How Long Do HIFU Results Last?

The duration of HIFU's effect varies according to the person's skin quality. It lasts an average of 1.5 years. Afterward, the treatment can be repeated if desired.

HIFU Session Durations

This treatment is generally applied in a single session. However, depending on the degree of sagging or the number of areas to be treated, it can also be performed in 2 sessions. There should be at least 3 weeks between sessions.

When Does HIFU Show Its Effect?

Since HIFU targets the deepest layer of the skin, it takes some time for its effect to become visible on the surface. This period is a minimum of 3 weeks. Its main effect appears after 2 months.
