Case Study 19: Minimal-Scar Neck Lift Under Local Anaesthesia and Upper Blepharoplasty at 66

The patient's concerns

At 66 this patient was bothered by a sagging face and neck and by heavy, drooping upper eyelids. She wanted to look refreshed, but preferred a less invasive approach and to avoid general anaesthesia.

Rejuvenation for mature skin

Ageing skin is thinner, less elastic and heals more slowly, and older patients are more likely to have medical conditions that increase the risk of general anaesthesia. Minimally invasive techniques performed under local anaesthesia with sedation offer a safer, gentler route to rejuvenation for many patients in their sixties and seventies.

What was done

Minimal-scar neck lift under local anaesthesia

After the area was numbed, small incisions were made in the crease behind the ears. Laser-assisted technology was used to reduce excess fat under the chin and jaw and to heat the deeper layers, stimulating collagen and skin contraction, while the loose tissues of the neck were lifted and tightened. The result is a smoother, more contoured jaw and neck line with scars hidden behind the ears. Learn more on the facelift page.

Upper blepharoplasty

Excess skin and fat were removed from the upper eyelids through an incision placed in the natural eyelid crease, where the scar becomes practically invisible. Removing the heavy skin brightened her expression and relieved the hooding that can narrow the field of vision. See blepharoplasty in Turkey.

Result

The patient's neck and lower face are firmer and better defined, and her eyes look open and rested, a natural result appropriate to her age, achieved without general anaesthesia.

Recovery

Most patients return home the same day or after one night. Eyelid stitches are removed at around one week; swelling and bruising settle over two weeks. A light chin strap may be worn for a short period after the neck lift.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an age limit for facial rejuvenation?

No fixed limit. General health, not age alone, determines suitability.

Is local anaesthesia enough for a neck lift?

For selected patients and less extensive procedures, local anaesthesia with sedation is safe and comfortable.

How long will the results last?

Results are long-lasting, although natural ageing continues over time.

Next step

See more on the case studies page or contact Prof. Dr. Suleyman Tas Clinic to discuss a gentle rejuvenation plan with Prof. Dr. Suleyman Tas.

How long do facial rejuvenation results last?

A surgical lift typically holds for around a decade because it is carried by the deeper layer rather than the skin. Ageing continues, so sun protection, skin care and non-surgical maintenance still matter.

Where are the scars?

In the natural creases in front of and behind the ear and inside the hairline, placed so that hair and make-up cover them while they fade over the following months.

How long before I can be seen in public?

Swelling and bruising are most visible during the first ten days. Most patients feel comfortable in public after two to three weeks, and the contours keep refining over six to twelve months.

Can the result be maintained without more surgery?

Largely, yes. Sun protection, good skin care and occasional non-surgical treatments maintain the skin quality that a lift on its own cannot provide.
