Video 3.15: Fix Down Technique – Complete Operation and Five-Year Result

What this video shows

Video 3.15 puts the individual manoeuvres of the fix down technique together into one complete operation, following the twenty-step summary printed in the book: from the incisions and submembranous dissection, through the septal strip excisions, ethmoid bone incision, bone excisions on the maxillary pivot points and the lateral, transverse and radix osteotomies, to centring and descending the framework, inserting the spiderweb sutures, filling the dead spaces and, when needed, adding an onlay graft, releasing the levator alaeque nasi muscle, treating maxillary hypoplasia or rim retraction.

The accompanying figures document before and five-year-after views, which is what makes this video valuable for surgeons evaluating the long-term stability of dorsum preservation.

Key points

  • Full fix down operation following the book's twenty-step sequence.

  • Shows how the individual steps from Videos 3.11–3.14 fit together.

  • Documented with a five-year follow-up.
