Video 3.20: Dorsal Roof Technique – Animation of the Principles Behind the Technique

What this video shows

Video 3.20 is an animation that presents the principles behind the dorsal roof technique in a schematic way, complementing the live surgery shown in Video 3.19. It visualises how the dorsal roof is defined by the dorsal aesthetic lines, how the dorsal osteotomy differs from a classical medial osteotomy, how the septum is lowered under the roof and how the roof is re-fixed at the new height before the bony vault is narrowed.

The animation is a useful teaching tool for residents and for patients who want to understand what 'preservation rhinoplasty' means in this practice.

Key points

  • Schematic explanation of the dorsal roof concept.

  • Shows the relationship between dorsal aesthetic lines, roof, septum and osteotomies.

  • Companion to the live surgical Video 3.19.
