Video 3.5: Checking and Smoothing the Osteotomy Lines with the Maxilloplasty Method

Video 3.5 shows a quality-control step that the book recommends after every osteotomy: the osteotomy lines are checked by palpation or endoscopically, and any roughness is smoothed and perfected with the maxilloplasty method, using a power burr on the bone edges.

The same technique is used in crooked noses to prepare a groove for the nose to sit in after rotation, which reduces the difference between the two sides of the maxilla; this is part of the fix down technique explained later in the chapter.
