Video 4.18: Blinking Nose Deformity – Cauterising and Dissecting the Muscle

What this video shows

Video 4.18 continues the treatment shown in Video 4.17. The muscle that passes vertically over the lower lateral cartilage is cauterised and then dissected, and a piece is removed so that the cut edges cannot adhere to each other again and restart the contraction during healing.

This definitive treatment is preferred when the dilator naris anterior muscle is responsible; when the transversalis nasalis muscle is the cause, the book notes that a botulinum toxin injection was preferred, as shown in Video 4.19.
