An S-shaped nose refers to the appearance of the nose resembling the letter S when viewed from the outside. This is an important condition that needs to be corrected both aesthetically and functionally. I will be informing you about rhinoplasty surgery… Enjoy reading.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, or septorhinoplasty, is the correction of both the external and internal parts of the nose. "Septo" refers to correcting the internal part of the nose, while "rhino" refers to correcting the external part. As the name suggests, septorhinoplasty is a surgery that corrects both breathing and aesthetic problems.

What Is an S-Shaped Nose Deformity?

The most well-known deformities in rhinoplasty surgeries are issues such as a dorsal hump, a drooping nasal tip, a crooked nose, a wide nose, and an S-shaped nose, all of which negatively affect our lives. Although these deformities can occur separately, they can all be corrected in the same surgery. An S-shaped nose is one of the most challenging of these deformities to correct, and the goal is to correct the nose while keeping the damage to the nose at a minimum.

Rhinoplasty Recovery Process

The recovery process varies depending on many factors. Every detail matters, from the type of nasal deformity to the technique used. Two different techniques are used in rhinoplasty surgery: open technique rhinoplasty and closed technique rhinoplasty. The others are not techniques but methods. The recovery process with the closed technique is shorter compared to the open technique, and post-operative swelling and bruising are also less. With the Closed and Atraumatic Technique performed and used by Dr. Suleyman Tas, we generally do not see bruising in rhinoplasty surgeries. Since the body's healing mechanism is built around swelling, some swelling is normal to see.

How Many Hours Does Rhinoplasty Take?

Rhinoplasty surgery takes an average of 2 to 2.5 hours, but when you factor in the time for anesthesia administration and waking up, plus the time until the patient is fully alert and taken to their room, this can take 3 to 4 hours in total. Of course, this can also vary depending on the nasal deformities involved. Revision surgeries are more difficult, so the surgical process can take longer.

Choosing a Doctor for Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is an important surgery that must be performed with great care and precision. Choosing a doctor who is successful and experienced in this field is extremely important. Revision surgeries are quite difficult. If needed, a nose can be operated on multiple times, but the success rate decreases somewhat with each surgery, which is why it is extremely important for the first surgery to be performed with the necessary care and precision. It is very important to be examined by at least 3 to 4 doctors before undergoing rhinoplasty surgery. It is very important to get different opinions about what you need to know regarding rhinoplasty surgery.

In Which Months Should Rhinoplasty Be Preferred?

Claims that rhinoplasty should not be performed in the summer months are completely false. We could say this is one of the biggest misconceptions out there. Thanks to the Closed and Atraumatic Technique, you can have surgery in any season. Generally, in Open Technique surgeries, surgery in the winter months is recommended due to the nasal tip being cut and the risk of scarring caused by sun exposure. However, since the nasal tip is not cut in Closed Technique rhinoplasty and the entire procedure is performed through the nostrils, there is no risk of scarring, and surgery can be performed in any season.
