Facelift Cost in Istanbul: What the Price Includes

A facelift quotation in Istanbul is not one price; it is a set of decisions that each move the number. Before comparing two quotes, make sure they describe the same operation, in the same kind of facility, with the same follow-up. Most of the difference between a low quote and a high one is not profit margin — it is scope.

What actually sets the price

  • The technique and the release. A short-scar mini lift, a full SMAS lift and a deep plane lift are different operations with different durations. Operating time is the single largest cost driver.

  • Whether the neck is included. Platysma correction, submental liposuction and deep neck work add time and change the result — and are sometimes quietly excluded from a cheap quote.

  • Combined procedures. Eyelid surgery, brow lift, fat grafting or rhinoplasty in the same session each add to theatre time and anaesthesia.

  • Hospital and anaesthesia. A licensed hospital with a dedicated anaesthesia team costs more than an office-based setting, and it is the part of the bill that protects you.

  • The surgeon. Experience with the specific technique, teaching and publication record, and case volume.

  • Aftercare. Nights in hospital, dressings, garments, drain removal, hotel and transfers for international patients, and the follow-up schedule after you fly home.

What a complete quotation should list

The surgeon's fee, the hospital and anaesthesia, the operation as named (technique, whether the neck is included, any combined procedure), medication and dressings, the post-operative checks during your stay, and the follow-up in the first year. Ask for that list in writing before you commit to a date. If a quotation does not name the surgeon or the hospital, it is not a quotation.

Questions that reveal a cheap quote

Who performs the operation, and will that person be in theatre for the whole procedure? In which licensed hospital? Is the neck included? What happens if a revision is needed — who pays for what? Where do I stay, and who sees me before I fly? The answers separate a competitive price from a price that is low because something has been removed from it.

Why Istanbul is less expensive than Western Europe

Hospital, staffing and living costs are lower, the exchange rate favours international patients, and surgeons who operate on high volumes of facial surgery work efficiently. The implants, sutures, monitoring equipment and sterility standards in a licensed hospital are the same ones used elsewhere. The saving is in the cost base, not in the operation.

Our approach to pricing

Prof. Dr. Suleyman Tas gives a personal quotation after an examination — in person or, for international patients, online with standardised photographs — because the technique, the operating time and whether the neck and eyelids are included cannot be decided from a photograph alone. Frequently asked questions

Why won't a clinic give me a price on the phone?

Because the operation has not been decided yet. A phone price is either an average that will change or a price for the cheapest possible version of the operation.

Is a more expensive facelift automatically better?

No. Price correlates with scope and with the surgeon's experience, not with the result on its own. What matters is what the price buys: the right technique, a licensed hospital and real follow-up.

Does insurance cover a facelift?

No, when the purpose is aesthetic. Functional procedures such as correction of eyelid skin obstructing vision may be covered in some countries when documented.

What extra costs should international patients expect?

Flights, accommodation beyond what the package includes, and any additional procedure decided at the examination. These should be stated before you travel.

What if I need a small revision later?

Ask this before surgery and get the answer in writing. A clinic that has thought about revisions will have a clear policy for minor corrections and for the surgeon's fee in a second operation.
